  • Single use dressing trays
  • Single use sterile gloves
  • Single use face mask (worn by the doctor).

All re-usable equipment at the Sydney Medical Body-Piercing Clinic is sterilised  in accordance with Australian Standard 4187 "Code of Practice for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilising reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment, and maintenance of associated environments in health care facilities".

The steriliser used at Sydney Medical Body-Piercing Clinic is an SES 2000 and complies with Australian Standard 2182.

The effectiveness of our autoclave is monitored weekly using 3M Attest ® microbiological spore testing. We have a written Procedures Manual that was developed as part of our Practice Accreditation process.

All contaminated waste from piercing procedures is disposed of into approved containers and disposed of by licenced contractors approved by the Environmental Protection Authority.

The Clinic has been inspected by officers of the Local Government Public Health Unit and also by AGPAL, a Federal Government body that inspects the procedures and standards of doctors in Australia.

We acknowledge the assistance of the Association of Professional Piercers in setting minimum standards for the piercing industry.
