R I - Nipple Piercing Experience

NIPPLE PIERCING WITH TOO SHORT A BARBELL (Not Performed at the Clinic).

I had been wanting a nipple piercing for a few months because I had seen a beautiful piece of jewelry for it and it took me a while to get the money to have it done. Not having consent from my parents I tried to find a place which would do it for me for a reasonable price, sterile conditions and also a place that didn't require parental consent. I found a place that seemed ok and so I had it done there. I was sat down and had my nipple numbed with cream and after 45 minutes went back to have it pierced with a 10mm, 16 gauge barbell.

After it was pierced, the piercer asked another tattooist/piercer if it was too tight and the reply was that it should be fine. I left pretty happy although a little concerned about how tight it looked but didn't give it a great deal of thought because the piercer had given it the all clear.

I followed instructions on after-care and for the next two days, it looked pretty good.

It was on the third day that I realized something was definitely not right as one end of the barbell had almost completely buried itself into my nipple. I had tried numerous times to push the end out but I could literally see it sinking back into my nipple.

By this time I started to really become worried and rang Sydney Medical Body-piercing Clinic after seeing the website and previously talking to Richard about a tragus piercing of mine. He seemed to know exactly what he was talking about, so it was arranged for me to come in the next day to have the problem fixed.

When I arrived, my nipple was looked at and I was then made aware that the barbell was actually jewelry for an eyebrow, was too tight and was also pierced with the wrong gauge. My nipple was numbed and then pierced with the correct gauge and then had a larger barbell put in it to allow healing.

The treatment was excellent and I have definitely learned my lesson by going to a piercer who hasn't got a very creditable reputation.
