Do my flat nipples affect my ability to hold the piercing?

Hello, I would appreciate some information on nipple piercings. I have
rather flat nipples and they are not very well defined, as compared to
my friends', and they only perk up when really cold, yet I am interested
in getting a horizontal barbell piercing.
Should this be taken into consideration? Do my flat nipples affect my ability to hold the piercing? I would appreciate any information regarding whether or not this is possible.

Your nipples are suitable for piercing. Indeed piercing your nipples with
a straight barbell will encourage your nipple to stand out.
It is important that your jewelry is appropriately sized to minimize problems. I would recommend 14 gaurge jewelry and fairly large balls (5 - 6mm) to distribute the force over a larger area. This will avoid the balls burying themselves in the skin which can happen with small ones.
Consult an experienced piercer.
